On 12 March, Unit 1 of the China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) San’ao Nuclear Power Plant in Zhejiang Province — the first “Hualong One” nuclear power unit in the Yangtze River Delta region — was successfully connected to the grid for the first time, generating its first kilowatt-hour of electricity. This milestone resents a critical step towards the formal commercial operation.
