On 15 May, the China-France consortium, led by China Nuclear Power Engineering (CNPE) signed a contract for the Welding Preparation in Pit (WPP) at the ITER Organization’s headquarters in France. The consortium comprises CNPE, China Nuclear Industry 23 Construction Company Ltd., the Southwestern Institute of Physics, the Institute of Plasma Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP), and Framatome.

This is the fourth significant agreement between the consortium and the ITER Organization, following three previous contracts, including the Tokamak Assembly Contract 1 (TAC1), which was signed on 30 September 2019.
