China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) announced on February 23 that supply contract for plant-wide digital I&C system (DCS) for Guangxi Fangchenggang Phase II, as HPR1000 demonstration unit, was signed.

　　The nuclear power DCS is a core device responsible for operation monitor and control, handle control and management of the whole NPP and is the key to guarantee NPP’s safe run. It is metaphorically called the NPP’s “nerve center”. In the past, Chinese NPPs had been relying on imports for nuclear-level DCS device.

　　According to reports, China Techenergy Co., Ltd. (CTEC) under CGN broke the monopoly of foreign technology by officially releasing the FirmSys in October 2010, which was the NPP’s safety-level DCS platform with independent intellectual property rights.
