On 26 May, the China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) announced the development of a new advanced machine for mutation breeding.

The high-uniformity electron linear accelerator, which is designed and developed by the CIAE under the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), has successfully passed performance verification and on-site commissioning. It features key technical specifications that are among the most advanced in the country.

This achievement represents a significant breakthrough in the integration of nuclear technology with modern agriculture. It enhances the equipment system designed specifically for radiation-induced mutation breeding, providing a robust nuclear foundation for seed innovation and food security.
