China’s New Generation “Artificial Sun” Reaches New Operational Milestone

On 28 May, the China National Nuclear Corporation announced that the Southwestern Institute of Physics had achieved a significant breakthrough with its fusion device. Known as “China Circulation III”, this new generation of the “artificial sun” reached a plasma current of one million amperes and an ion temperature of 100 million degrees while operating in high-confinement mode. This brought the fusion triple product to a new high of 10²⁰, marking a significant advancement in China’s fusion research and paving the way for burning plasma experiments.
