On May 21, 2024, the hot function test was completed at Unit 1 of Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant following the shutdown of all primary coolant pumps. This achievement provides a solid foundation for the next stages of fuel loading, grid connection and, ultimately, power generation.

When Unit 1 begins generating power later this year, it will become a catalyst for economic and social progress in southern Fujian. The operation of this Hualong One reactor will not only contribute to the region's energy needs, but will also play a key role in supporting the region's ambitions to achieve its carbon-peak and carbon-neutral goals, in line with China's broader environmental and sustainability goals.
