From July 8th to 9th, 2022,   "Research and Development of nodular cast iron Spent Fuel Transport Containers" project under the   nuclear energy development scheme of he National Atomic Energy Agency completed the mechanical test of the first prototype container with a 100-ton capacity. It lays a solid foundation for verifying the rationality of the container structure design, the effectiveness of the shock absorption function and the accuracy of the mechanical simulation calculation, and also provides a reference for subsequent research and development and industrialization. This is a key breakthrough and an important milestone in the development of China's first 100-ton nodular cast iron spent fuel transport container.
