On 8th October 2019, with the successful installation of generator rotor in the first Hualong-1 unit Conventional Island of K2 project in Karachi, Pakistan, all the main components of K2 has been in place. It provides the preliminary conditions for the timely realization of cold test in 2019.

At present, the construction of four Hualong-1 units by CNNC is proceeding smoothly. They are the only 3rd Generation pressurized water reactors in the world that are being built on schedule. K2/K3 projects are Hualong-1 demo units outside China; it is an EPC project that will be handed over from China to Pakistan. It is also one of the important projects of the Road and Belt Initiatives.
